The sight of Christmas decorations going up is one of true magic. It brings out the kid in me, seeing all the twinkling lights and knowing all the magic that is about to happen. We are fortunate enough to have fun events near our home here in Illinois. From the tree lighting to the kids shopping day, there is something for everyone. Check out some of these fun events happen right here in our community.
A Vintage Holiday Market
Come out to The Woman’s Club of Evanston historic clubhouse on December 1 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and shop for unique gifts or holiday decor for your home at the Vintage Holiday Market. The event is not limited to only holiday decor and it might be the perfect place to find that one of a kind gift you are looking for.
Stop in Alya’s Originals on Saturday, Dec. 1 or Sunday, Dec. 2 for a bead love class and make your own bell chimes in honor of small business Saturday. Earrings will also be BOGO and if you spend $50 on a gift card purchase you will receive $10 in bead bucks.
Warm Bevvy Walk
Come on down to downtown Evanston on December 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. for the 5th annual Warm Bevvy Walk. This is a free event but it is asked you register ahead of time so they have a count as to how many people to plan for. Visit Newport Coffee House to pick up a map for the event and if you are over 21 and plan to have alcoholic beverages you will need to present your ID and get a wristband. You can also make a donation of $5 and get a cute commemorative mug with all proceeds going to Connections For The Homeless organization. Then take a stroll downtown and enjoy some delicious beverages and maybe even get a start to your holiday shopping.
Holiday Healthcare & Gift Fair
Heartwood Integrative Health & Healing is offering some relaxation and rejuvenation on December 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. They will be offering massage, tai chi, yoga, and meditation. You can also enjoy some holiday treats and shop all their wonderful gifts.
Evanston’s holiday tree lighting ceremony will be held Saturday, Dec. 7 from 5 to 7:03 p.m. Starting at 5 p.m. the Evanston Children’s Choir will be singing for your enjoyment. Hot coco will be available for you also, then at 5:30pm Mayor Hagerty will light the tree. After the tree lighting head over to The Crystal Ballroom & Lounge at The Merion and meet Santa and Mrs. Claus.
